Kendall Coffman has practiced law since 1997, bringing nearly three decades of experience in federal and administrative law to his clients. Since 2021, his immigration practice has focused on employment-based immigration for highly accomplished professionals, with an emphasis on the technical writing and legal strategy behind O-1,  EB-1B and National Interest Waiver (NIW) petitions.

Kendall works with researchers, engineers, scientists, and the companies and universities that employ them to transform complex technical accomplishments into persuasive immigration petitions. He understands that the greatest challenge in extraordinary ability cases is often not the law itself, but effectively demonstrating to a USCIS officer why someone’s work is significant. His practice centers on bridging that gap by translating sophisticated scientific, academic, and engineering achievements into clear, compelling legal narratives supported by a well-developed evidentiary record.

Kendall’s experience includes preparing successful petitions for researchers, professors, scientists, machine learning engineers, software developers, UX designers, and other highly skilled professionals. Kendall carefully analyzes publications, patents, citation records, media coverage, and other evidence to develop petitions that are both technically accurate and accessible to USCIS adjudicators.

Before concentrating his practice on immigration law, Kendall spent more than twenty years representing individuals and small businesses in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters. During that time, he managed every aspect of a case—from client counseling and evidence gathering to drafting pleadings, negotiating with creditors, and appearing in court. That experience reinforced the importance of writing for the decision-maker: presenting facts clearly, building persuasive legal arguments, and guiding readers through complex issues with precision and clarity.

Kendall earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1997 after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. He has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1997.
